Strawberry Guava are starting to bud and flower. I trimmed the bushes last year and they seem even more productive.

Guava season is nearly over. my tree has a few new flower buds, but do not think it will produce many new fruit.

It is peak Guava season and I go out in the mornings to find fruit all over the ground. Of course, I've wrapped them, so they are not damaged.

I'm finding the average Guava is between 150 and 200 grams, which are pretty decent sized. I'm also getting tons of Strawberry Guava. They ripen quickly and I'm trying to eat them, but there are just so many.

I made jam using Strawberry Guava. I did not use pectin, so it is like a thick syrup; however, it tastes great and perfect for yogurt.

Some of the red Guava fruit I wrapped the other day are starting to drop and in pretty good condition.

Average Guava are between 50~200 grams, which makes these a little larger than average.

I have Strawberry Guava bushes around my property and get a handful everyday.

I have some pretty nice red Guava. I am not wrapping fruit that are still small and green, but will wrap fruit that is maturing, like the ones I show hear. After this picture I wrapped these two fruit.

Every morning I will retrieve fruit that has fallen and check fruit still on the tree that I think is ready. Fruit that ready will fall off in your hand when lightly tugged.

These fruit are average size and beautiful inside.

I get a handful of Strawberry Guava everyday.

Strawberry Guava are bite size and delicious. I simply wash them and eat them fresh.

The red Guava are doing well with tons of fruit on the tree; however, I've seen a few fruit on the ground the birds got to, so I will need to wrap them.

Strawberry Guava are also ripening and I get a handful everyday. They are so good I simply wash them and eat them whole. I actually like these Strawberry Guava more than the red Guava.

Today I found one red Guava and four Strawberry Guava.

These Strawberry Guava bushes were planted from seed about two years ago. They produced some fruit last year, but are full of buds this year. I have 7-8 bushes and now considering how to use all the fruit I expect them produce. However, I must say, of the three verities I am growing (Red, White and Strawberry) these are my favorite, so a nice problem to have.

The fruit on this red Guava tree is starting to ripen quickly. At first I could not understand why, but then I noticed the tree is starting to produce summer buds.

I have Strawberry Guava bushes planted all around my property and they are full of fruit. The fruit are at different stages of development, so I suspect I will be able to enjoy them for weeks.

My neighbor asked why they are called Strawberry Guava, since they are not red nor do they taste like Strawberries. Actually, there are verities that are red like Strawberries, but this type happens to be yellow. Regardless, I prefer Strawberry Guava over regular Guava, because they are sweeter and the seeds are smaller. Plus, the bushes take up less space and produce a lot. 

They are bite size with the average fruit a little smaller than a golf ball (I compared) and weighing roughly 30 grams (1 oz). The peel has no flavor, so you can simply wash and eat them like you would a cherry or strawberry.

It is Strawberry Guava season, but my Strawberry Guava are still growing. They are larger than average and hope they are sweet.

I have 8-9 Strawberry Guava bushes spread out around my property and they are all full of fruit. Eating them fresh is the best, but I think I will get more than I can eat. I need to research alternative ways to use them.

The red Guava has about 40 fruit on the tree and they are growing quickly. I absolutely love red Guava and can't wait until they are ready to eat.

The red Guava tree in the back of my house is flowering. There are many buds, so looking forward to getting many fruit this year.

The white Guava tree in the front of my house has one flower and I cannot find any more buds. If it turns out this tree only has one fruit it is probably going to be huge and super sweet since all the tree's energy will be dedicated to this one fruit. Last year I got three fruit and they were 150% larger than average and very sweet.

The Strawberry Guava bushes in the back on my house are flowering and have tons of buds. The flowers are nearly identical to the flower of the red and white Guava.

Several of the Strawberry Guava plants have buds. This is the first year they fruited, so not sure how well they will produce or if the fruit will taste good, but I am looking forward to trying.

Strawberry Guava Tree

I planted some Strawberry Guava seeds last year, hung up the pot and basically forgot about it. The seeds started to sprout late last year 2019.

I have so many seedlings and transplanted a few. I intend to transplant the rest in the back of my house to create a natural barrier between the property next to mine.

(5/1) I transplanted these two seedlings around the beginning on May and they are growing well.

(6/6) I went to a famer's market that had many vendors selling trees, flowers and other various plants and found this Strawberry Guava tree. They are fruiting now. My plants are too young, but suspect I will get fruit next year.
