Strawberry

Getting a handful of Strawberries everyday. I do not have a greenhouse, so I place newly developed strawberries in a plastic bag. I cut the corners off the edges and cut slits around the bag to allow the fruit to breath and moisture to drain. They are delicious.

Strawberry

This year has been exceptional and my Strawberry plants are producing a lot of fruit.

Strawberry

Strawberries are in season and my. My plants are full of flowers and I'm getting Strawberries of all sizes.

Once a Strawberry starts to turn red I place it in a small plastic bag with a slit in it to protect it from birds and other insects, plus it keeps the outside of the fruit smooth. If left to ripen without protection, the skin gets a little dry and the seeds protrude.

Strawberry

I propagated these Strawberry plants last year and had them in small starter planters for months, but decided to transplant them a few days ago. They had well developed root systems and are doing wonderfully.
I had these Strawberry plants covered during the summer to protect them from the heat. They are now starting to flower, so I pulled up the covering to allow them to get more sun.
My original Strawberry tower. I do not see any flowers yet, so think I need to move the tower so it can get more sunlight.

Strawberry

I'm getting a few Strawberries a week and still testing the bag experiment. I'm finding the Strawberries placed in a bag tend to get larger, but taste and appearance are not greatly impacted. The Strawberry at the top left was in a bag and the other two were not. The center one looks flawless.

Strawberry

Strawberries are in season and my plants are starting to produce some nice Strawberries.
The left Strawberry was placed in a plastic bag and the right was left unwrapped.
I'm trying this experiment again to see the difference.
I will keep this Strawberry unwrapped.

Strawberry

First Strawberry of the year. I picked it a little early so the birds don't get it. It needs to ripen a little more. I hope it is sweet.

Strawberry

Only one of the Strawberry plants produced Strawberries, but they look healthy.

Strawberry

The Strawberry plants I saved from last year are starting to produce runners. I will generate many more plants in hopes of getting some tasty Strawberries this year.

Strawberry (Ichigo)

I'm starting to get Strawberries. They are not as large as I hoped, but they are sweet and have a wonderful aroma.

Strawberry

My Strawberry plant is starting to produce more Strawberries. They are small, but surprisingly sweet. The past few years the Strawberries had a nice aroma, but were not sweet. I plan to pick these tomorrow.

Strawberry

I would love to let my Strawberries on the plant to ripen more, but the birds are smarter than I am and they can get under the net to get at the Strawberries, so I pick them as soon as they ripen. They are still delicious, but wish I had more.

Strawberry

My Strawberry plants are starting to produce fruit. I have already tried a few that ripened. They are not huge, but I was pleasantly surprised how sweet they were. Much better than previous years.

Strawberry

(12/31) This is a runner I placed in a small bag with soil about a month ago. It grew a pretty good root system, so I cut the runner from the main plant and transplanted it.

Strawberry Tower

The Strawberry plants in this tower are doing fine and I'm starting to see flowers. I propagated all the plants in this tower from one plant.
