The buds on this Surinam Cherry tree (bush) are starting to blossom. So many flowers it is incredible.

I just took a picture of this Surinam cherry tree (bush) using a flash and found the buds show up so clearly. Every little white dot is a bud. This bush produced a few cherries last year, but if all these buds pollinate there will be hundreds of cherries. I have three budding bushes and excited to see how many cherries they produce.

These Surinam Cherry trees (bushes) are starting to blossom. I have four bushes and three have buds. These bushes are not even three years old. I got a few Cherries last year, but I see many more buds this year.

I planted Surinam Cherry seeds in June 2019. The research I did stated that it will take around 5-years to produce fruit, but I suspect due to the favorable climate in this region these trees fruited in less than 2-years. Surinam Cherry trees are a cute plant, so I planted them primarily as ornamental plants in my garden; however, they produce fruit and are drought tolerant, which makes them even more desirable. I've done the same with Goumi trees. They are a beautiful tree, plus they produce delicious Goumi berries. 

Many people mix up Acerola and Surinam cherries, but they are different in both appearance and taste. From what I understand there are red and dark purple varieties of Surinam Cherries (also known as Brazilian Cherry). As they ripen they change colors. The verity I planted are red, but I understand the dark purple are sweeter, but I'm looking forward to taste testing my fruit in a few years.

I have several Surinam Cherry trees around my property. They blossomed last month and I am now starting to see some fruit. This is the first year they produced fruit, so excited to see how it tastes.

I planted Surinam Cherry (Brazilian Cherry) tree seeds in June 2019 and kept four saplings primarily as ornamental bushes. They do not grow that fast, the leaves are lush green in the summer and bright red in the fall, but I was not excepting them to flower so early.

I planted a few Surinam Cherry (also known as Brazilian Cherry) seeds a few months ago and they finally started to sprout. From what I read it will take a few years before they product fruit.
