The Green Lettuce plant is going to seed. During the day the flowers bloom and during the evening they will close, except for those that were germinated. These flowers will turn into a small fluffy ball that looks like cotton. Lettuce has a sticky latex type sap, so it is recommended to place the fluffy cotton like balls in a container to dry after picking before separating the fluff from the seeds; otherwise, it will be a sticky mess.
