Peanuts

I was growing Okra in this container that I previously used to grow Peanuts. Well, I guess I missed a Peanut, because a few plants grew.
The Okra in this planter was finished, so I decided to just pull everything out and replant.
I got a handful of Peanuts. I'll save them to grow more.
These are Peanuts I saved from my last harvest. I will plant these in the same container.
I found this Japanese Sweet Potato at the bottom of the container. There was a vine from the next container that fell in this container, but did not realize it actually rooted and produced a Potato. Lucky!
It was a pretty decent sized Potato 227 grams (1/2 lbs). That's a meal.

Carrots

I planted Carrot seeds I collected, but not sure they will germinate. The seeds were not that large, but it's free to try.

Lettuce (Sunny Lettuce)

Sunny Lettuce to growing quickly.
These plants sprouted a little later and I transplanted many plants to spread them out.
I collected these seeds from one of the Lettuce plants that bolted. I'm growing four types of Lettuce, besides the Sunny Lettuce, and once I collect enough, I will mix them and plant them like you would Mesclun Lettuce.

Pakuchi (Cilantro,Coriander)

Pakuchi is really starting to grow.
Container 2
Container 3

Tomato (Cherry Tomatoes)

My Cherry Tomatoes are starting to ripen.

Lemon Tree

A second Lemon seed sprouted. I'm so pleased, because I always want a least two saplings in case one does not make it.

Japanese Sweet Potato (Beni Imo)

These Japanese Sweet Potatoes (Beni Imo) were planted on 24 January 2021, which was about 10 months ago. I did not take a picture of the vines since they were pretty dried up.

I flipped over the container, pressed down the soil and removed the potatoes.
I did not get as many potatoes as I hoped for. I need to go back and see how many slips I planted, but I suspect not many.
In the end I got 706 grams (1.5 lbs), which is less than average.
I placed the Potatoes in a cool dry place to cure for 10-14 days.
I will not grow Beni Imo this time, but instead I planted 10-12 Purple Satsumaimo slips. The soil had no pests or other noticeable problems, so I added 20 kg (22 lbs) of fresh soil and 3 kg (6.6 lbs) of fertilizer to this container. Tomorrow I will add some nutrients to the top soil specialized for potatoes.

Mango Tree (Apple Mango)

I was thinking this tree was done growing for the season, but just noticed a new branch. I plan to trim this tree once it creates a new node.

Passion Fruit (Purple)

I'm finding more flower buds. These are purple Passion Fruit growing on the trellis at my side yard balcony.
I pollinated this flower after I took this picture today. If successfully pollinated a fruit should start to develop in a few days.
This is a fruit from a flower I pollinated about two weeks ago.
Here are some more fruit on the other side of my house that I pollinated about 10 days ago.

Hibiscus

My Hibiscus was full of flowers today.

Watermelon

I got one small Watermelon this year. I am pleased considering how difficult it is to grow them here. I hope it is super sweet. The Watermelon I took the seeds from was rated at a level 13, which is super sweet for a Watermelon.

Rain Lily (Zephyranthes Lily)

Rain Lilies grow wild around my area. There are a verity of colors, but generally I find white, yellow and pink. I'm propagating these in containers at the moment and going to plant them around my garden. They require little to no care and when grouped together are quite pretty.
White Rain Lily
Yellow Rain Lily
Rain Lilies can be propagated by planting the bulb or seed. The bulb generates new bulbs quickly to create new plants. Each flower also produces tons of seeds. The flower will create three seed pods and each pod contains 15-20 seeds.
The group of thin blades are Rain Lilies planted from seed. There is something else sprouting, but not sure what they are. They do not look like weeds, so will let them grow and if they are something I want, I will transplanted them.
I planted bulbs in these containers last summer. They are growing well and already producing white Rain Lily flowers.

Guava (Red Guava)

The red Guava tree in the back of my house continues to bloom and there are tons of fruit on the tree. Some of the Guava are getting large, so I need to start wrapping them to protect them from the birds.

Shikuwasa Seeds

Shikuwasa Seeds.

Mango Tree (Apple Mango)

I planted this Apple Mango seed on 5 July and during the summer it grew well. It has since seemed to have stopped. I want to cut the tip off once it gets to about a foot tall or has three or four nodes. At the moment it has three nodes, but less than a foot; therefore, I will wait for a forth node the develop and cut it above that.

Egyptian Spinach (Jute Mallow, Nalta Jute)

The Egyptian Spinach plants are producing seed pods. If I were interested in growing more I would have tons of seed.

Tomato (Cherry Tomatoes)

I have about 20 Cherry Tomato plants. About 80% of them are self seeded. They started to flower about a month ago and for the longest time I saw no Tomatoes and thought it was due to a lack of pollinators, but suddenly they started to produce tons of Tomatoes. I'm so pleased.

Passion Fruit

Yellow Passion fruit normally flowers between April and November, while Purple Passion Fruit flowers between March and April; however, I have some Purple Passion Fruit flowering now. I suspect these are young vines that are fruiting for the first time and are a little out of sync with mother nature, but I'm not complaining. Passion Fruit take 70 to 80 days to mature from the time they are pollinated, so I expect some delicious fruit this winter.

Lemon Tree

I planted four (4) Lemon seeds on 1 October and one sprouted in late October. It's doing well and hope to have some Lemons in 3-5 years.

Pakuchi (Cilantro,Coriander)

I already cut many stocks of Pakuchi from these two plants once, but they have grown back and the sprouts are now starting to grow quickly.
These seeds were planted months ago (maybe April or May), but pleased to finally see them sprout.
The Pakuchi seeds in the right side planter were planted on 30 July. I really need to record when these plants sprout so I do not waste my time or a planter, because they will sprout when they are ready and not when I want them to. Lol! In the first picture I do have two plants that sprouted early and I'm now using, but this is an exception.
